SCOTTISH VINTAGE BUS MUSEUM - TR 6170

The original TR 6170 was registered by Hants & Dorset Motor Company in January 1929. She was a long-wheelbase Leyland Lion with 35 seats and a Leyland 5.1 litre petrol engine. After several years service, TR 6170 was passed to the Caledonian Omnibus Company, and was scrapped in 1951.

That should have been the end of the story but . . . . . . . . . . . . .

In 1981 the registration TR 6170 was re-issued to the present vehicle, which is five-eighths (5/8) of the original size. This is the only miniature of its type and was used by the manufacturer to advertise his business and skills at producing miniature vehicles.

Purchased in 1986 by A.C.W. Garden Centre of Bradford and refurbished in Caledonian Omnibus colours in 1991.

Now owned and driven by Ross and Douglas Scoular, the renowned Edinburgh bus restorers, the Lilliput bus is a very popular visitor to many rallies, gala days and fairs around the country, as well as being a star attraction at the bus museum open weekends.
