SCOTTISH VINTAGE BUS MUSEUM - ORS 60 R

ORS 60 R is a 1977 Leyland Leopard, new to Grampian Regional Transport (GRT) with whom it was in service until approximately 1990. The coach was sold on to Mairs where it stayed until withdrawn in 1998 and sold to the present owners for preservation.

Mairs stored it until it was transferred to the SVBM in February 2000. It has a Class 5 MOT, and it was originally intended to re-paint it back into GRT Ivory/Green-skirt livery immediately. However, a trial bit of elbow grease brought up a nice shiney finish so it was decided to polish up the whole vehicle and to use it as it is for 2000 at least. The intention is still to re-paint into GRT colours.

ORS 60R passed her Class VI at the end of March 2003. Everything has been brought up to scratch with the only thing remaining to do being a rear brake relining, which will be done at the end of the Summer. It is not desperate at present.

The chassis has had another chip and paint session, the wheels now sport proper Leyland wheel trims, and internally, all the seat backings have been replaced over the winter and a lot of the seat leatherette sides as well. At present a new front dash panel is being prepared to fit to her around Easter.

The bus will be kept her in Mair's livery. It sits well on the bus and there is not another Mair's vehicle in preservation, that I know about.
