HISTORY OF THESE VEHICLES - by Garry Ward

OCS 712 (Garry Ward)

OCS 712 entered service on 01/05/1960 with Western SMT, at their Ardrossan depot. It was initially used on Lancashire express duties, day tours and private hires. In its later years it was used on stage carriage services and was transferred to Rothesay in June 1971.

It was withdrawn and sold in April 1977 - after a period in store - to D McIntyre & Sons Ltd of Dundee, for transporting berry-pickers and potato-pickers.

Out of use by August 1991 (by which time it had been re-registered XSL 945 A) it was bought for preservation in June 1993.

It was subsequently purchased by the present owner and came to Lathalmond in 1995.

Sister vehicle, OCS 713 had a similar career.

Whilst with McIntyre, OCS 713 was observed with registration number RCS 338. This was the original registration of a similar Alexander bodied Bristol MW6G which had also come from Western SMT. RCS 338 was sold in 1988, still carrying it's original registration number, as far as we are aware.

Around 1998, OCS 713 was noted by a friend of mine at McIntyre's premises carrying registration RCS 338. This was later changed to XSN 25A.
