THE SCOTTISH VINTAGE BUS MUSEUM - 2002 GLASGOW BUS MUSEUM OPEN WEEKEND
Following the successful first Open Day in 2001, this year the Glasgow Bus Museum changed to a weekend format, on the 24th and 25th August. Once again SVBM vehicles and members attended in reasonable numbers. There must be a fair amount of dual memberships - including at least four of our party - as there appeared to be lots of SVBM faces on staffing duties. Having taken only one photo myself, and having found other samples on scottish_bus_photos egroup Gerry Cushley and David Fox were able to send me others of the day.

I
took our bus through to Glasgow on the Saturday and Jim Methven took her on
the Sunday, to take part in the free service. I was again joined by my wife
and grandsons and some SVBM members from Lathalmond and along the way. Left: BXA 464 B waiting to participate in the free service. (John Ives) |

My
wife headed for the city centre on the first available bus whilst the boys
and I had a look around the museum and stalls. All the model stalls had the
recently-released model of our bus and most were apparently sold out by
closing time on the Sunday. Right: An inside view of the main display area (David Fox) |

Left
- another view inside - if the two AECs had been better positioned there
would have been an opportunity for a better 'mirror image' shot. (David Fox) |

Out
into the sunshine of the yard to see the bus that arrived in Glasgow recently
from Malta. The Maltese are very protective of their buses - I'm not sure why
- and this is apparently the first bus to be allowed to leave the island.
Andrew though it was 'cool'. Right: DBY 001 (DBY 333) awaiting restoration |
