For sale: 3x used 6V 190Ah batteries with PSV terminals, complete with link cables, out of a 1980 Gardner-engined Fleetline.
My fourth battery recently expired due to a dead cell, so I have converted to 2x 12V batteries for the price of one new 6V! Apparently they're not so easy to come by these days - I was quoted about £235+VAT for a new 6V, so will sell my old ones for £100 each or £250 for all three (no VAT to add). Could save you some cash if you have the same problem as I did, or if you want to keep your preserved bus to original spec.

finally it came to pass my last "turkey and tinsel" of the 2009 season before going into rehab for my now turkey and cranberry sauce addiction!
my coach was down in south wales awaiting my collection so what i assumed and hoped would be a pleasant change i was to travel to cardiff courtesy of our wonderful railways to relax in the buffet car do a crossword and thumb through the december issue of motor sport magazine.
alas, my dream was shattered when arriving at huddersfield most majestic athenian station to my horror a sign informed me the first leg of the journey would be made by coach and when i saw what vehicle was to ferry me a feeling of doom came over me!
one of the oldest and tattiest plaxtons i have ever clapped eyes on was waiting for me,it is over a decade since i left national holidays and even they had been fazed out this model by then.the coach had the aroma of previous evening vomit obviosly from some stag night private hire the driver had more layers of clothing he could have auditioned for mr bibendum the michelin man and he requested the assistance of his nearest passenger(i say passenger but i feel victim would have been more apt)! to use a rather dubious rag for purpose of cleaning the screen of condensation as like the rest of the coach heating system the blowers did not work.
then to comfort(using the word comfort loosley) this vehicle had been converted to a 70 seat school type and although i do not claim my rear is small but only the smallest of primary school children would have been able to squeeze into the seats.
the journey was slow(particually up inclines) noisy and cold and as you can imagine very uncomfortable,honestly if it was not for the fact i was a tour driver this would have put me off coach travel for life!
so please tell me folks, can you now put any peice of rubbish on rail replacement or perhaps this is a ploy by the rail companies to promote it is better and more comfortable by rail?

I am looking for a set of bare metal handrails for the lower deck on a lowbridge ECW-bodied Leyland Olympian, plus 6 seat frames to fit out the lower deck on my preservation project as I had most of my seat frames stolen, and the lower deck had been retrofitted with yellow DDA handrails.
If you are disposing of an Olympian that would have suitable parts, or know of any that are being parted out I would be most appreciative of any information as a bus is not complete without all its seats!

Third Southend Heritage Bus Running Day:
A network of special services will be operated on Friday January 1st, 2010 (when the usual Arriva and First local services are not running).
Around 18 buses, a mix of modern and "heritage" vehicles - including ex London Routemasters - will operate from around 0930 to 1700 on a number of key routes in the Southend, Rochford and Castle Point districts. In addition, the Castle Point Transport Museum on Canvey Island will be open and served by a half-hourly bus from Southend.
Day Rovers are the same price as last year (£6) but valid over a more extensive network !

I have just bought a MCW metrobus reg no DEM 763Y that is registered as a Scania which apparently is unheard of and im looking for info on it. It also has a suspension fault, its leaning over slightly on the front offside corner due to an air leak on a leveling valve on the nearside. Does anyone know where to get such a valve or can i do a quick fix ie take an air feed from the nearside to get the bus back to devon fom bedfordshire. Cheers
