She attended the King Alfred running day this year and performed faultlessly but hasn’t really been out since. I bought her with the intention of using her for private hires etc but she is in ‘show condition’ and her rarity value has stopped me doing this. In addition fully restored single deck Atlantean rebody RAU804M (Nottingham / South Notts No.55 is available. This is ticketed for a year and taxed for 6 months.

word of warning to drivers parking in builder street coach park llandudno, no longer the 24 hour security hence coaches are getting broken in to, the local council appear not to care as long as you pay your £10 per day fee however the local police have concerns and recently arrested and charged a person caught breaking in to one of the parked coaches.

Looking for some autumn gold moquette as fitted to NBC vehicles during the late 70's early 80's, dont need much just maybe a bit off a roll end to repair a few seats.
Also a Devon General or sometimes confused with Western National 1970 onwards destination blind covering Torbay area, anything considered up to around 1990 in date, needs to be able to fit a Bristol VR which is upto 31" in width I believe.

Hi,
TCO537 was an early atlantean and was fitted with an electric door motor (I believe it to be either a smiths or cav unit). Sadly this was removed back in the 80's and currently the doors cannot be motor operated.
Does anyone have a motor working or in need of repair that we could acquire to help put this vehicle back on the road in full working order.

With all the media hype regarding the recent problems in air traffic due to the Icelandic volcano erupting and airline passengers both abandoned and isolated all over the globe I feel at least our industry that is the bus and coach did excel in repatriating so many of these people from Europe back to the UK.
It became obvious that repatriation was extremely slow and for the stranded passengers painfully slow plus it also became our government and no plans afoot apart from Lord Adonis pontificating on television how well and involved the governments efforts were that they even were sending three of the Royal Navy's capital ships to assist the needed, I can only assume that this with an election imminent it would rouse the Dunkirk spirit and image but fail to mention this would cost the tax payer a rumoured £1 million per day and the passengers picked up last week on my coach all tired some financially embarrassed due to the extra cost they have had to endure and perplexed why no one in power had done anything constructive I feel they would disagree with Lord Adonis vehemently, still I believe one of the capital ships picked up some of our brave soldiers returning from Afghanistan and a hand full of civilians!
I was told of stories of the 1 euro bottle of water in Spain rose to 6 euros in a few hours,hotel room prices trebled and everyone of the 72 passengers we had on board felt ripped off and abandoned. I will add at this trade my employer was not playing the Fairy godmother or a charity organisation each passenger paid £100 for the trip from the Costa to Victoria, may of these on borrowed credit cards from friends or relatives but my hostess Carol was amazed when our coach arrived how welcome the crew was made and when we pulled out on our long journey to the UK they cheered and gave us an even louder cheer when we pulled out of Dover.
My point being rather than the grand gesture of the great Naval ships perhaps and considering if you purchase a return ticket say from Manchester to Barcelona you would therefore return to Manchester so why couldnt coaches be in place at Barcelona airport and then transfer the passengers say to the South of France where a swift transfer onto a French coach then onwards to Calais to awaiting British coaches to ferry the last leg to Manchester or Benedorm to Heathrow etc. I am sure you have not got my drift, at a cost less than the bill we will have to pay for our Navy's efforts and I say with respect more suitable. Perhaps Lord Adonis and his department should learn from this and in case of future problems coming from Iceland work out a viable plan to have in place for such matters?
On our passage to the UK aboard P and O Pride of Kent we spoke with some North East drivers who worked for Classic unfortunately they were travelling home empty because when they arrived both at Barcelona and Malaga airports the Jet2 passengers they were to collect had managed to get on an aircraft a few hours earlier but somehow never thought to inform the coaches!
Finally to say it is rare these days when all the passengers thank the hostess plus myself and co driver for getting them to London,notwithstanding many had several hundred miles still to go before finally reaching their homes and it was quite touching when they describe this as rescuing them.
Again to say of all the travel industry our section on this repatriation have excelled.
On a footnote do you think it is too early to start Volcano jokes or should we wait for the dust to settle?!
