Armchair for Sale?

Following a post in the london-bus egroup by Adam S. Williams informing us that in the Transit magazine that both Harris Bus and Armchair appear to be up for sale"

It would be sad to see Armchair and Harris bus go. Having taken a weeks work experience at Armchair - I feel a bit upset! :( - I will let you know any more news when I have it!

LT Area News Update
Armchair are likely to take over route 49 from 29 May as a temporary arrangement with new Dart SLFs pending the relaxation of weight restrictions on Hammersmith Bridge. London United, which was awarded the new contract for route 49, will continue to operate route 209 in the interim with existing Darts.

CentreWest's new short Marshall Dart SLFs (DMS class) commenced at Greenford on 27 March, one example (DMS257) is at Orpington.

The new Feltham - Heathrow bus link started on 27 March, operated by London United's Airbus unit with new Plaxton Pointer 2 Dart SLFs.

New  air conditioned Dart SLFs have also taken over on route H30 replacing TWM Volvo B6LEs.

London United are to take over routes K3 & 415 (Kingston - Esher) on Sundays from London Buslines and Arriva Guildford & West Sussex.

The final Volvo Olympians to enter service in Britain, these being the London-specification examples built by Northern Counties as the final bodies to go out under that name, and held as dealer stock. So it means good bye to some of the LA and LN class whick will go off to First Capital and First Eastern Counties see First Capital web site for more .

Wayfare LT ticket machines all over West London
1/3.99 - As I write some bus now operating in West London now use the new LT Wayfare ticket machine - even poor old Metrobuses on the 207have been fitted.

24/2/99 - First Ealing Buses is now using the new type of wayfare LT ticket machines - most buses now carry this type of ticket machine. This has been fun for the drivers as their are more buttons then the old type. These ticket machines have been inuse on the E2 and E8 since May 97 when Armchair took over!
