AEC Reliance coach for sale

I have my 1978 AEC Reliance, fitted with AH760 engine and Plaxton Supreme III body (although carrying a mk IV front). C44Ft-seating capacity, new to Best & Sons, London and believed to be the West Ham team coach for 1978. Although mechanically believed to be well, the bodywork requires TLC, as expected for a Plaxton of this age. Pictures, taken around 2 years ago, can be seen at http://www.flickr.com/photos/10447863@N03/sets/72157627856924800/ My circumstances have changed and I now cannot forsee me starting any restoration work on her. Offers IRO £1000 taken for this piece of motoring & football heritage. Contact Mark at Markyboy2105112@ yahoo.co.uk (remove space after "@")

AEC factory wartime fire service?

Wonder if you can help again in my quest for information about my Grandfather who worked for AEC/ LGOC1899-1948. Henry James BAILEY. In his obituary from the Gazette of 1948 it states he had an award from the NFS Association. We have no record of his medal in the family and wonder what this might have been. I would guess that he was also a member of the in-house fire service at AEC during wartime---any photos or information out there of the AEC fire brigade 1939-1945? ---I would really treasure any information - thanks. Contact Dave on davidgerda@btinternet.com

Henry James Bailey

Wonder if anyone can help me flesh-out any details of the career of my Grandfather Henry James Bailey of Southall please?---he worked for AEC for nearly 50 years from 1899. This (click here) is a copy of his Obituary as it appeared in the AEC gazette in 1948 following his death. I know very little about my Grandfather as I was only 2 years old at his death. I would dearly like to know if there are any company records of him beyond his obituary-----perhaps a photograph? what he may have done at the factory during his nearly 50 years of service!!??---any other information of the "sick horse boys" from the days of horse drawn buses at LGOC. Perhaps he was in the company fire brigade etc?----any information about the engineering department's lorry drivers? maybe a remote chance that one of your number may even have remembered him?--- A photograph of him would be wonderful if he could be recognised/named. Any information about "his award" would be welcomed. Thank you - David Bailey, davidgerda@btinternet.com
