This page is intended to provide a register of where you can find, and travel on, AEC buses and coaches in service today. You can help by sending any information you have on AECs in service. If you like AEC buses, don't forget to add this page to your favourites and check it regularly. Hopefully there will be new information added frequently.
The list is in two parts. Firstly a list of AECs which are with operators who run public services, including the service details so you can check the travel opportunities. Secondly a summary of AECs (mainly Reliance coaches) in use with smaller operators for contracts and private hire.

Open-top RM783 and front entrance RMA11 are used in service by Western Greyhound on some journeys of routes 500 and 550. Timetables are available on their website, www.westerngreyhound.com (info from the operator June 2005). The proprietor also owns RM1062 (62 CLT) and AEC Regal MLL 528, which may be used occasionally. The Regal came form Monk, Lostwithiel, and had been previously identified as Greenline RF141 but has apparently been registered MLL 589 in the past. Updated April 2008. |

Regal III | JTB 749 | JTB 749 is a 1948 Burlingham bodied Regal III. Originally it belonged to Florence Motors of Morecambe. It boasts a 4 speed pre select fluid flywheel gearbox, air brakes and a 9.6 litre engine. It was class VI tested in January and will be used on our service 569 from Kirkby Stephen to Hawes and on private hire jobs. VDV 818, a 1957 AEC Regent V 470 in Devon General colours is operated in the summer months on a circular tour around Buckfastleigh, Devon, based on the South Devon Railway. It shares these duties with Scania powered Routemaster RM1872 which is owned by the railway trust, and other heritage buses and coaches belonging to Ron Greet Nostalgic Transport - which include 1934 AEC Regent OD 7497 and 1949 Regent III KOD 585. Imperial Travel provide an RT786 or RM1641 for the service on Sundays and some Bank holidays between Epping LT station and North Weald to connect with a heritage train service to Ongar. Former RM1583 (Blackpool 521), RML2290 and RML2336 operated the 2007 summer sightseeing service between Lytham and St. Annes, alongside a PD3A Leyland Titan and an open-top Bristol VR. They are owned by the Lancastrian Transport Trust and operated by Classic bus Lancashire. The service finished in September 2007 but should restart in 2008. Updated December 2007. |

Eastern Counties usually run Routemasters on Great Yarmouth sea front service 3 during the summer months (May-September). The 2008 glossy leaflet suggests the service is run by Routemasters, but when AECBus visited in June an Olympian and B10M coach were in use. The vehicles are: RML2480 (JJD480D) in red/cream 'Eastern Counties' livery, RML2623 (NML623E) in yellow/green 'Flying Banana' livery, RML2717 (SMK717F) in blue/cream 'Great Yarmouth Transport' livery. The Big Nottingham Bus Company commenced regular operation on 7April 2008 with Routemasters on service 20 Nottingham city centre to Arnold. They operate from 0650 to 1930 6 days a week. The service 20 is every 20min Mon-Fri,and every 30 min Sat and holidays. Buses in operation are RM758/RML2336/RML2596/RML2651. April 2008. |

A total of 20 closed and open-top Routemasters are in the fleet of Lothian Transport owned Mac Tours, but only numbers 1-12 now seem to be in regular use on Edinburgh sightseeing services. Numbers 1-10 are ex Original London Tour extended length open top Routemasters, ex ERM94, ERM163, ERM235, ERM90, ERM84, ERM80, ERM143, ERM237, ERM242, ERM281. Also in the fleet are part open top RCL2241 (11) and RCL2248 (12), originally Greenline coaches with platform doors, open top RMs 2210, 1803, 1858, 371 (13-16, the first three from East Yorkshire), closed top ex RMC1485 (17) from Stagecoach, and closed top RM2203 (18). The two former BEA closed top forward entrance models 19 and 20 were in use on the Majestic tour but this has been taken over by Olympians. 15 was painted into traditional Edinburgh livery in 2006 for Heart of Midlothian F.C. promotional duties. The Michael Roulston (Glasgow Corporation Transport) owned Routemasters are kept at the Beith Vintage Bus Museum and run on services linked to that facility. They are also used on rail replacement services in Glasgow. They occasionally run on the weekends only "three ferries" service GCT3 Ardossan-Wemyss Bay and linked are GCT1 Beith-Ardrossan, GCT2 Beith-Wemyss Bay, in place of the usual open-top Atlanteans from the Roulston fleet.
